Türkiye launches project to increase agricultural productivity

Türkiye’s Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has launched a new project to increase renewable energy production and protect agricultural lands by putting floating solar panels on stagnant water surfaces such as dams and ponds.

The nation’s efforts to combat the climate crisis will advance with the construction of floating solar power plants in still waters, such as lakes, dams, and ponds, to use land for agriculture more effectively.
The project intends to support sustainability by safeguarding water supplies and a future powered by renewable energy sources.

In the meantime, the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry’s “Türkiye National Energy Plan” said that the goal was to increase the nation’s solar energy capacity by almost 500 percent until 2035, bringing it to 52.9 units.

According to the government, solar energy will eventually have the most installed power plants and will be used the most frequently.

Ten of the country’s provinces have a significant solar energy potential, according to ministry data.
According to the survey, among the cities with a high solar energy capacity are the capital Ankara, the western provinces of Zmir and Manisa, Konya in Central Anatolia, and Anlurfa in the southeast.
