TIAST Group Announces Plans to Industrialize Central Region’s Agric Sector

TIAST Group, an agricultural industrialization company with over three decades of experience in machine manufacturing, has assured the Central Region of Ghana of its commitment to industrialize the region’s agricultural sector through agroprocessing.

Delivering a speech at the Ghana Central Region Investment, Trade, and Tourism Expo launched under the theme “Sustaining Business Opportunities: Nurturing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in the Central Region”, Mr. Hehui Chen, Chairman of TIAST China, said agroprocessing of farm produce like cassava could change the economic woes of the nation at large.

Highlighting TIAST Group’s groundbreaking proposition, Mr. Chen outlined their comprehensive business model designed to empower a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including investors, agribusinesses, entrepreneurs, and other groups within the agricultural sphere.

“TIAST Group has developed a fully functional business model for all investors, agribusinesses, entrepreneurs, and stakeholder groups within the agricultural space, granting them the opportunity to own fully automated agro-processing machinery for the production of cassava starch and standard rubber, he said.

This model facilitates the ownership of fully automated agro-processing machinery, specializing in the production of cassava starch and standard rubber.

Emphasizing the need for the region to process the cassava crop, Mr. Hehui Chen said, “Cassava starch is the game changer in our world today. It is used in pharmaceuticals, confectionery, textiles, paint, and many other industries around the world.”

He further said the business module offers financial, technical, and offtake support to local farmers and investors who would partner with the company to set up these agroprocessing factories across the region and Ghana at large.

Touching on the financial support, he indicated that the company provides 80 percent of the financial support for the total cost of the factory.

On the technical and technological support, he said, “With our technical support, we would bring our expertise on board. We would help the Central Region by designing, manufacturing, installing, and conducting maintenance on state-of-the-art automated agro-processing machinery.”

However, he said TIAST Group’s impact doesn’t halt at technology and finance.

According to him, the company has established a guaranteed market for all agricultural commodities produced, ensuring fair market prices for farmers.

He reiterated that the company has guaranteed a ready market for processed products such as cassava starch, with an already confirmed order of 600,000 tons of cassava starch annually.

He explained that if the region harnessed this potential, it would generate foreign earnings, improve the standard of living of the agricultural value chain operators, and subsequently create more job opportunities for the teeming youth.

Responding to the assurance of TIAST Group, the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan, said agricultural industrialization is indeed the way forward to building a resilient economy.

She, however, encouraged all district and metropolitan assemblies to partner with TIAST Group and embark on this transformative journey.

“TIAST Group is a leading organization dedicated to agricultural development and the industrialization of agriculture.

“They have been instrumental in supporting our farmers and agribusiness investors with essential funding, technical and technological support, and offtake services for agricultural products that specialize not only in agriculture but also in health and information technology. We look forward to more partnerships,” she said.

She added, “TIAST Group’s dedication to agricultural development and industrialization aligns perfectly with our region’s goals for sustainable socio-economic progress.”

The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu III, also touched on agricultural industrialization, saying the region produces the majority of the country’s food but has not improved in leveraging technology to set up processing factories.

He indicated that the assurance made by TIAST Group to industrialize the agricultural sector is timely.

He assured TIAST Group of his commitment and support for industrializing the agricultural sector.
