Demonstrating a keen interest in championing a good course is mostly attributed to well-dedicated and charismatic individuals. The ability of a woman to defy the odds in the society and make remarkable progress in the line of education and career is one that is endeared by a lot of people globally. Through all the challenges and difficulties faced by women in getting to top positions, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Dr. Afua Asabea-Asare has sailed through it all, and has become a model of influence to many women and individuals looking up to her.

She is a Positive Leadership and Strategy enthusiast with an educational background in Integrated Communications. In her pursuit to climb the ladder of education, Dr. Asabea Asare possesses a Masters of Arts (MA) in Positive Leadership and Strategy from IE University in Madrid. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Post-Graduate Diploma in Organizational Development from the University of Cape-Coast and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from Ecole Superieur de Gestion (ESG), Paris. 

Her passion to broaden her scope of knowledge saw her through pursuing a Certificate course in Strategic Marketing Management from the Harvard Business School, Cambridge. Her excellence in communication both in corporate environment and media engagements are qualities that she greatly possess. Tracing her background in Communication Studies, Dr. Asabea Asare holds a Post-Graduate degree in Communication Studies from the University of Ghana, School of Communication Studies. From the Ghana Institute of Journalism, she studied and acquired a Diploma certificate in Public Relations and Advertising.

Due to her strong sense of impacting the society and the world, she has written and published various industry and business tailored articles on leadership development, coaching and on diversity of thought and inclusion.

Speaking about the corporate environment, Dr. Asabea Asare is a force to reckon with looking at her achievements in the past few years. Prior to her current position as the CEO of GEPA, she has worked as the General Manager and Head of Corporate Communications at Ghana Telecom, and also worked in the Public Relations and Training Departments of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. Her interest in media studies saw her serving as an intern at the TV News Room of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and Nippon Tetrapod Co. Ltd of Japan.

Her persevering nature from childhood has witnessed her developing herself to become the Founder and Lead Consultant at AYA and Company until March 2017, and also a Lecturer of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Supply Chain Management and Mass Communication at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), the Presbyterian University College and a Visiting Lecturer and Speaker at the China Europe International Business School’s (CEIBS) Women in Entrepreneurship and Leadership in Africa (WELA) programme. 

In IE University in Madrid, she serves on the Board of Venture Capital Trust Fund and Advisory.

Currently, as the CEO of GEPA, she also works closely with organizations, companies and individuals who add value to locally produced goods for exports. As the authority is keen on promoting non-traditional goods, her engagement with TIAST Group has made the country grow and develop. Her partnership and leadership skills have translated into numerous employment opportunities for the Ghanaian populace, acquisition of skills and transfer of knowledge and practical skills.

Dr. Afua Asabea Asare is indeed a force to reckon with when it comes to strategic leadership to accelerate growth and development. If we are referencing influential women in Ghana, Africa and the world, Dr. Asabea Asare is indeed to a point of reference.

Her strong orientation and education in Positive Leadership and Strategy has equipped her with strategic plans to work cooperatively at GEPA to accelerate growth and development in exporting value added products on the international market at standard market prices
