Dr.  Bawumia Targets Agriculture and Key Sectors to Boost Economy

In a strategic move aimed at mitigating the surging cost of living, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled a multi-faceted plan focusing on agriculture and pivotal sectors under his presidency.

Dr. Bawumia outlined a comprehensive strategy aimed at fostering food security, enhancing energy accessibility, and addressing housing and transport challenges.

He made these known while speaking at his first major national address to outline his own vision and priorities for Ghana.

Central to his agenda is the revitalization of Ghana’s agricultural sector through the implementation of modern techniques and technologies.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of leveraging technology and irrigation to facilitate large-scale commercial farming, envisioning a Ghana where food security is assured through innovation and sustainable practices.

Highlighting the abundance of limestone resources, he pledged to prioritize the construction of the Pwalugu Dam, utilizing private sector financing to bolster grant financing and propel agricultural productivity.

“The increase in the cost of living demands a holistic approach,” Dr. Bawumia remarked, acknowledging the contributing factors of soaring food prices, energy tariffs, housing rents, and transportation expenses.

In his vision for sustainable economic stability, he underscored the imperative of addressing these fundamental pillars of livelihood.

Dr. Bawumia articulated his vision for the energy sector, emphasizing the significance of reliable and cost-competitive power in driving industrial growth, job creation, and export expansion.

Asserting that accessible energy will attract increased manufacturing capacity, he expressed confidence in Ghana’s potential to enhance its participation in intra-Africa exports and trade, aligning with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) objectives.
