NEIP Empowers 500 Agric Entrepreneurs with GH¢10 Million Support

In a significant boost to the agricultural sector, the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has disbursed a total of GH¢10 million to 500 entrepreneurs across the country.

The disbursement, ranging from GH¢10,000 to GH¢100,000, is aimed at fostering growth and innovation in the agricultural landscape.

The disbursement ceremony, held in Accra, marked a milestone in the government’s commitment to supporting agric entrepreneurs through the Youth In Innovative Agriculture (YIIA) initiative under the Ghana CARES Obaatan Pa programme. These funds not only empower entrepreneurs to enhance their agricultural ventures but also nurture their aspirations of achieving success in the agric industry.

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NEIP, highlighted the significance of this financial support. He emphasized that the disbursement isn’t merely a financial boost but also a testament to the government’s belief in the potential of these entrepreneurs to drive positive change.

“So, as we prepare to disburse the grants and present beneficiaries with these symbolic cheques, I urge you to remember that this is not just financial support but a vote of confidence in your ability to bring about change.”

“It is a belief in your potential to transform challenges into opportunities to bridge gaps and to inspire future generations to take up agribusiness as their preferred jobs,” Mr Nkansah told the beneficiaries.

The needs of the beneficiaries for which the funds were being provided included the purchase of farm inputs such as fertilizers, agrochemicals, poultry feed, livestock feed, day-old chicks, and working capital for other operational expenditures.

The disbursement’s impact extends across various training modules, with maize farming comprising 30%, tubers (cassava and yam) at 20%, poultry and livestock at 35%, agro-processing at 10%, agri-tech at 3%, and other sectors at 2%.

This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to nurturing a thriving agricultural ecosystem, encouraging innovation, and fostering the growth of young entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. The disbursement serves as a driving force for progress, empowering these entrepreneurs to create a resilient and prosperous agricultural industry for Ghana’s future.
