Nigeria’s First Lady Launches Renewed Hope Women Initiative Agriculture Support

Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has inaugurated the inaugural Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women Agricultural Support Group programme in the South-East region to bolster agriculture.

Tinubu emphasized the programme’s commitment to uplifting women farmers and fortifying the agricultural sector nationwide.

The initiative pledges financial support to 20 women farmers per state, backed by N500,000 each, while an additional 80 women per state will receive financial backing through the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).

Beneficiaries are set to undergo training and receive agricultural inputs to enhance productivity, with NALDA facilitating post-harvest market access for farm produce.

Tinubu urged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity to expand agricultural activities, fostering economic growth in the region.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma applauded the initiative, stressing the importance of collective efforts in ensuring food security.

The collaboration between RHI and NALDA aims to empower more women in farming, fostering sustainable development.

Additionally, the programme includes empowering persons with disabilities with N100,000 each to bolster small businesses.

Stakeholders, including government officials and NGOs, are urged to collaborate for the seamless implementation of the programme.

The initiative highlights the pivotal role of women in agriculture and seeks to create more inclusive and prosperous communities.
