The Essence of a Ready market in the Agricultural Sector

Agriculture fulfils the basic needs of mankind by providing a lot of benefits to humanity. Unfortunately, the Agricultural sector continuously faces challenges. Sometimes these challenges are yesterday’s challenges presented anew but in a different context. But from time to time, new challenges arise with no close precedent. A guaranteed ready market for both raw or processed agro-products remains one of the major challenges in the Agric sector as advancement in the form of value addition is sorted in this new era.

Many farmers, small scale agricultural entrepreneurs and agro-processors do not make proper analysis and preparations on securing a ready market before venturing into the plantation or processing of any type of crop. The sad news is that majority of individuals in this category dwell on hearsays that communicate a booming market and/or huge returns on investment in venturing into cocoa or cashew plantation or processing for instance, with the assumption that buyers will automatically approach as long as they constantly produce but unfortunately, that is not a guarantee.

The knowledge of a targeted and secured ready market is something that needs to be exploited by any business-minded individual before venturing into a preferred area of business.

This is an area that TIAST WEST Africa Company Limited, an international company with its specialty in designing and manufacturing agricultural processing machinery has taken a critical look at and provided a mind-blowing solution to its clients or partners in terms of commodity marketing. With cassava starch being their main project, a client gets the opportunity to own a fully automated cassava starch processing plant and full factory set-up, 70-80% financial support for the factory set up in partnership with a renowned bank, technology and technical support, and also enjoys the off-take services which assure them of a ready market. This is where much emphasis is laid.

Agricultural marketing plays an important role not only in stimulating production and consumption but also in accelerating the pace of economic development. It is the most important multiplier of agricultural development. In the process of shifting from traditional to modern agriculture, marketing emerges as the biggest challenge because of production surpluses generated by the shift and tapping into an already existing market with high demand for a commodity is more ideal.

For a company to provide a ready market for every ton of cassava starch that comes from the factory set up for a client with payments of the starch made before production is one to be considered proper planning with the client’s interest at heart. Here, the client can make value for the money invested in the project.

A ready market means all produce can easily be sold off. Storing raw or processed products in the warehouses until they are infested by insect pests will be avoided thereby reducing the cost of storage, and the worry of finding a buyer after production will also be avoided. All of this will contribute to the optimization of resource use and output management, increase income, growth of agro-based industries, add to national income, etc.

In a nutshell, the role of a ready market in agricultural development is of great importance.
