In a bid to propel Nigeria towards food self-sufficiency and enhance agricultural productivity, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to revolutionizing the agricultural sector.
The president made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Niass, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.
Tinubu mentioned that his administration would ensure the expansion of farmlands, provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and significant investments in irrigation infrastructure.
He expressed determination to transform Nigeria into a net exporter of food, stressing the importance of aggressive mechanization in expanding food production.
He also took the opportunity to underscore his administration’s dedication to supporting plans aimed at facilitating ease and succour for Hajj pilgrims, emphasizing the importance of spiritual endeavors in nation-building.
He highlighted the significance of collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to advance the nation’s interests and foster unity among its people.
On health, he said, “We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage.”
President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their unwavering support and prayers, emphasizing the collective efforts needed to build a better Nigeria.
In response, Sheikh Mahe Niass, the Khalifa of Tijaniyya, commended President Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability. He expressed confidence in the president’s leadership and conveyed the fervent support and prayers of members of the Global Tijaniyya Movement to the Nigerian leader.
During their visit, the delegation offered prayers for the nation’s progress, unity, and prosperity, beseeching Almighty Allah to grant President Tinubu wisdom, strength, and success in his endeavors.
