Could you lead us to understand more about you?
My name is Yan Li Quan and my English name is Jack Yan. I’m the Vice President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Ghana Association of Chinese society, and a Consular Volunteer at the Embassy.
I’ve been in Ghana for almost 16years. I came to Ghana in 2007 together with my wife and children. My children previously studied at the University of Ghana and before that, they attended Aburi Girls School. Now they have moved back to China to continue their education because of the increase in COVID cases in Ghana. So Currently I am the only one left here in Ghana.
How has the educational journey been so far?
I graduated from the Harbin Institute of Engineering and I studied Electronics. After graduation, I worked with Heilongjiang Hangyun (shipping) TV Station as the Deputy Director. Later, I moved to Jiamusi HFC cable TV as the City network renovation leader.
How are your businesses faring in Ghana?
At the moment I have 2 businesses in Ghana, one is the Ghana Chinese News and the other is Yiran architecture which is into real estate development and with Yiran architecture, we buy lands, build on them and then sell them out most often. The China Mall behind West hills mall is a perfect example. The main aim is to establish a “China town” in the surroundings of West Hills. The total construction area is about 30,000square meters and at the moment we’ve completed construction on 10,000square meters.
In total there are 3 buildings, currently, we’ve completed 1 building and this building is about 9000square meters which we’ve rented out to China mall the other 1000square meters will be constructed as our office building and also a Chinese restaurant. Later the remaining 20,000square meters will be used to construct a business centre.
Having been in Ghana for 16years, we’ve acquired wealth and so far, we have given and will continue to give back the wealth we acquire to the local community. This is the inspiration behind what people will describe as my charitable acts. I love giving and I love to unite people with it.
What is your relationship with TIAST Group?
TIAST Group is a personal friend to the Chamber of Commerce and the Ghana Chinese news and also a business partner. In future, we will work hand in hand with TIAST Group to achieve better development in Ghana.
TIAST Group is a trusted partner and so, I will recommend TIAST Group to the Chinese agricultural enterprises in Ghana because they are a good company who have brought and still bring in a great deal of technology from China to Ghana.
