COCOBOD Dismisses False Claims on Cocoa Imports into Ghana

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has moved swiftly to address misconceptions surrounding cocoa importation into Ghana following a recent social media uproar.

In a press statement released earlier today, COCOBOD clarified its stance on cocoa importation, dismissing false claims circulating on various platforms.

According to COCOBOD, all cocoa processing companies established in Ghana post-November 2001 are legally permitted to import cocoa beans for processing within the country.

This clarification comes in response to a misrepresented official letter allegedly permitting Afrotropic Cocoa Processing Company Limited to import cocoa beans for processing purposes.

In the statement, COCOBOD emphasized that the practice of allowing cocoa processing companies to import beans is aimed at assisting them in meeting their specific requirements for chocolate production and other related purposes.

The board urged the public to disregard any misinformation stemming from the leaked letter, which has sparked confusion and misinterpretation on social media platforms.

The statement further highlighted the necessity of ensuring accurate dissemination of information, particularly regarding critical policies and practices within the cocoa industry.

COCOBOD emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability in managing cocoa-related affairs, reaffirming its dedication to supporting local processing companies while maintaining regulatory standards.

COCOBOD reiterated its call for responsible social media usage and encouraged stakeholders to seek clarification directly from authorized channels to avoid spreading inaccurate information.
