Fmr. Agric Minister to Address KNUST’s Faculty of Agriculture 70th Anniversary Celebration

The former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has been selected as the distinguished ‘Guest Speaker’ for the upcoming 70th-anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Agriculture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Renowned for his profound expertise and extensive contributions to the agricultural sector, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto will grace the occasion with his insightful address on the theme “Celebrating 70 Years of KNUST’s Global Impact on Agriculture.” The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, showcasing the remarkable journey and achievements of the Faculty over the decades.

The invitation extended to Dr. Akoto by the prestigious institution underscores the pivotal role he has played in shaping the agricultural landscape of Ghana. Describing the significance of his participation, the invitation highlighted, “The 70th Anniversary Celebration is a momentous milestone in the history of the Faculty, and we believe your insights and expertise would add immense value to the celebration.”

Dr. Akoto’s participation as the keynote speaker marks another notable milestone in his public engagements, being the fifth appearance in eleven months dedicated to delivering public lectures on agriculture and related matters.

In March 2023, he captivated audiences with his lecture on “The Future of the Economy of Ghana” at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), offering profound insights into leveraging the agricultural sector as a catalyst for the holistic development of Ghana’s economy.
