TOMATO SAUCE

Tomato sauce is one of the most popular with its origination from Italy, the accompaniment has served various purposes in many countries as it is one of the most eaten sauces across the globe, Many countries which have adopted this dish however have added varied twists to its preparation. They also add certain ingredients that are peculiar to their geographical location. Africans for instance have included more spicy ingredients like onion, ginger among other with any carbohydrate of e pasta or rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • Tomatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Tomato paste
  • Garlic
  • Bay leaf
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION

  • Wash and cut tomatoes into desired shapes.
  • Remove seeds from them and discard.
  • Grate the insides of tomatoes and discard the skins.
  • Put the grated tomato in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Add tomato paste, blended garlic, bay leaf, olive oil and salt to taste.
  • Lower the heat and allow to simmer.
  • Allow to thicken while stirring occasionally for about 10 -15 minutes.
  • Serve hot with desired carbohydrate and protein.
