SCARLET BEETLE

The scarlet beetle belongs to the family Chrysomelidae, the leaf beetles. The adult scarlet beetle is about 6 to 9 mm in length with long legs and antennae and is noted for its attractive nature.  This beetle has large eyes, a slim thorax, and a wide abdomen.

It is noted to feed on the leaves, pods, stems, buds of crops, and flowers causing a threat to the existence of the crop. It lays its eggs on the crop and multiplies. Poor drainage, compact soil, and nutrient conditions are factors that attract this beetle to the farm.
